How to test the conductivity of MiniFakra cables?

To test the conductivity of Mini Fakra cables, a multimeter is usually used. The following are the specific steps:

Preparation work: Ensure that the multimeter is in normal working condition and adjust it to the resistance measurement gear (usually marked as Ω). If the multimeter has an automatic range function, it can be turned on to more accurately measure the resistance value.

Connecting cables: Connect the two ends of the Mini Fakra cable to the test probes of the multimeter. Generally speaking, the red probe of a multimeter is connected to the core wire of the cable, and the black probe is connected to the shielding layer of the cable or the core wire at the other end (if testing the conductivity between the core wires). Ensure good contact between the probe and cable interface to avoid measurement errors.

Read the resistance value: After connecting, observe the resistance value displayed on the multimeter. If the resistance value is within the normal range, it indicates that the core wire of the cable is conducting well and there is no open circuit. If the resistance value is displayed as infinite, it indicates that there is an open circuit in the cable core wire, and further inspection of the cable connection or finding if there is any damage in the middle of the cable is needed.

Check for short circuit condition: When testing the conductivity between the core wire and the shielding layer, if the resistance value is zero or very small (close to zero), it indicates that there is a short circuit problem between the core wire and the shielding layer. Similarly, for multi-core cables, when testing the conductivity between different core wires, if the resistance value is abnormally low, it also indicates the presence of a short circuit between the core wires.

When detecting conductivity, the cable can also be gently bent, stretched, and twisted, while observing changes in the resistance value of the multimeter. If there is a significant fluctuation or infinite resistance value during operation, it indicates that there may be hidden breakage or poor contact in the core wire inside the cable.
